The challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to work out which of the 1152 buttons transforms this artistic statement into a practical cocktail cabinet. First you must remove your gaze from the hypnotic, repetitive pattern of the Ebonised Tasmanian Myrtle buttons set against the painted white cabinet ‘canvas’, press the button and watch the top half of the cabinet rise to reveal an illuminated cocktail bar. Transcending mere functionality, 1152 embodies the intersection of art and craftsmanship. Like all of Anton’s exhibition work, the cabinet takes established furniture- making techniques and adds an unexpected twist, upending the norms of form and function.
